Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make an income online.
After all.
- You don't need to have your own product.
- You don't need to have your own support team.
- And you don't even need to have a lot of money to get started.
You simply recommend products, offers, or services that others have created.
However, there's a concern that usually comes up quite often when it comes to getting started:
But what if I don't have any expertise?
And if you've ever felt that was holding you back from getting up and running?
Don't worry.
This post will help you push through the challenges of affiliate marketing.
Heck.
I started off in the same position (while being on unemployment too).
So allow me to help you out with the process of starting affiliate marketing from square one.
Affiliate Marketing From Scratch
There are usually a few challenges that come along with getting started:
- You might not have a lot of time, money...
- And of course experience.
So with these few steps?
I'll show you how to overcome all of these obstacles while building an affiliate marketing business.
Step 1: The Mad (Respected) Scientist
This is where the rubber meets the road.
So in a nutshell: This is all about taking action.
Let me give you an example.
When I first started online many years ago I created a Facebook fan page...
And in the process?
I got well over 80,000 fans while making anywhere from up to $500 per day.
I then had results that I could share with others and become an authority in my niche.
So this allows you to do multiple things:
- See what works.
- Make money in the process.
- Become an authority on the topic.
The question that also comes up:
What if you try something and it doesn't work well?
Perfect!
You then have information that you can still share with an audience.
Sometimes what doesn't work can be just as powerful as what does work.
This is a tactic that's also referred to as leading from the middle.
It works very well, too.
Anyway, that is the first step in the process (which can continue on for as long as you want).
Heck, this is something that you can do for your entire affiliate career.
Let's move onto the next step.
Step 2: Free Traffic Rush
"But what if I don't have a lot of money?"
This is yet another question I hear all the time, and this is how you get around it:
- Leverage free traffic.
There's tons of it, too.
Remember how I said above that I created a Facebook fan page?
That didn't cost me a dime (and doesn't have to cost you a dime either).
Here are many ways that you make affiliate commissions with little to no money:
- Blogging.
- Posting YouTube videos.
- Utilizing your Facebook profile for attraction marketing.
- Facebook fan pages (although not as great as they used to be).
- Posting value in Facebook groups (whether it's yours or someone else's).
- Building up your Instagram following (affiliate links in your bio and story posts).
And anything else that you can think of like joint venture partners or product launches.
This is all about finding something that you want to do and running with it.
Free traffic is all about constant and continuous action.
So if you find that you don't have a lot of money?
You better be ready to put in the action.
Let's look at the last step now.
Step 3: Growing Pains
Growing pains don't just happen to our bodies, it happens with our businesses too.
So what do I mean when I say growing pains?
I'm referring to investing some of the money that you made to help you grow faster.
Because once you start making money?
You're most likely going to want to scale up (and you can do that without losing your shirt).
Yes, it's a pain, but it's also a necessity.
Here are a few ways that you can do that:
- Build an email list (which is very inexpensive).
- Invest in tools (landing pages, sales funnels, trackers).
- Start hiring micro-workers to help with mundane everyday tasks.
- Start moving into paid advertising (Facebook, Google Adwords, etc).
There are obviously many ways to invest in your affiliate marketing business to grow faster, but it's going to be specific to what you're doing in the first place.
So if you think about it?
These are the three steps that you can pretty much repeat for as long as you want.
Let's recap them once more to make sure you got a good grasp of them.
Conclusion
- No experience?
- No massive list?
- Not much money?
...no problem!
Here are the steps that you should follow when getting started from scratch:
- Lead from the middle, see what works (and what doesn't), and report back to others with results.
- Leverage free (and organic) traffic to make your commissions while building up your authority.
- Start investing in systems, operations, people, or traffic to start scaling up.
The trick is to get up and running as quickly as possible.
You're going to make mistakes (everyone does), but the fast you make them?
The faster you will be able to solve them and keep on pushing through.
And once you push through the initial stages of affiliate marketing?
Results start to snowball and things become a ton of fun.
